How long will you or do you wait for your Doctor appointment
Had to see a new Doctor today about my shoulder. Filled out all their papers they sent me, so they told me I would only need to be there 15 minutes early. I was 25 minutes early. Appointment was at 9:30 am, they begin seeing patients at 8:00am...it was 10:47 before the Doctor saw me. That is 1 hour 17 minutes waiting on him. My question is at what point do you say enough is enough on waiting for your Doctor?
Now I know that emergencies do come up, there was none today. I think it is rude and inconsiderate for them to keep patients waiting. They will not wait on you. I wonder how patient/kind they would be if they had to wait on a plumber or electrician that said they would be there at such and such time and showed up an hour late.
Unfortunately what choice do we have. Guess I just wanted to vent.
IT IS TOTALLY UNFAIR... AND I HOPE ANY DOCTOR THAT MAKES HIS PATIENTS WAIT OVER 30 MINUTES....HAS HIS TOILET BACK UP ON HIM!!! LOL JK... that would not be right
I don't and my doctor knows this....I don't like any kind of doctor to begin with and unless I am dying I won't go. My family has to force me to go...So when I do go, I am seen right away.
Without Faith there is no Hope, Without Hope there is no Faith, this is true in all religions.

I agree with you! I have sat in the waiting room for ever on several occasions. I particularly hate when they say that I must show up 30 minutes before my appointment time to make sure all paperwork is completed before they call me in, and then I sit and wait another hour to see the doctor. I did this with my son at an orthopedic doctor office. He and I sat in the waiting room for almost 2 hours before we were even called back, and then we had to wait in the room for the doctor. It was a full day just to have this one appointment.
I also had another appointment at the pediatricians office where I was 5 minutes late, and they acted like they weren't going to be able to see my child because I didn't make it in time for my appointment. This was their position when I normally am there 10 minutes early and I sit and wait for over a half hour.
I hate it!!!!
I have never and would never wait that long. I also wouldn't take it out on the staff but I would say something to the dr. I used to work in a dr's office (ob/gyn) and people would get mad at me if the dr was called out for an emergency and was running behind. We tried calling patients to let them know but not always able to get a hold of them because they didn't give a DAYTIME telephone number so we could reach them.
Then you get the patients that tell the staff they are coming in for one thing and they end up bringing up twenty things to the dr. That's why 90% of the staff will ask when you're booking the appt what it's for and it you're having a problem.
our pediatrician was always late, but on the up side, he always took his time with his patients, the only reason he had to set the appts the way they were was due to protocol. he never ever rushed us, and when I had all the kids in let me tell you, wow! he retired 2 years ago, omg, but the new one seems to be working out ok and she seems to do her job thoroughly, just have to break her in now as to what I need and want. My question is, did he rush with you or did you feel rushed, or did he take his time and listen to you???
send them a bill for your wait time!!
Good for you, but I do think it is improtant to take care of yourself. But I like that they get you right in!
