I get emails daily on whet Dr Oz's next show will be on and today I decided to sit down and watch it. It was on these 4 woman who were obese and wanted to be fat. They have a website that men pay money to watch them eat (EWWW GROSSS). Dr Oz brought out these 4 woman and the world record for 2012 that is wanting to lose weight and then you have these other 4 who want to keep gaining weight. Dr Oz offered to help all 8 woman and told the 4 that he wanted to know who wanted the help.. My heart sank as the one lady walked off the stage because she could hardly walk...
I know that weight gain comes from either a medical condition or emotional stress from something that happen to the person.. I loved the question he asked..."Who told you that you were worthless?"

I can't begin to think I understand these ladies. The challenges that comes with being over weight and yet they endure, I put my hands out to them. Losing 10 lbs is a huge deal for me, I feel sluggish if one more pound is added to that so what can I say, to each its own..
I actually just watched a Discovery show "My 600lb Life" about people who are big like that...You could really see the toll that being so heavy took on their bodies, and their lives....trouble breathing, trouble walking....trouble doing just about anything :( It also followed them over the next 4 yrs after they had gastric bypass surgery to lose weight...
What I found most interesting ties into that question...One young lady (24) had a mother who just hated her....never said it straight out,but you could see it in the way she talked to her and treated her....Alot of it being done under the guise of "encouraging" or "joking"....it made me really angry and for a couple of years after her surgery, she progressed very slowly and even for awhile regained weight...because she was an emotional eater and was just full of anger....
Another, older lady in her 40's had trouble with her realtionship with her husband who was her care giver because once she started losing weight and she didn't need him in that way, they had to find an actual relationship as husband/wife instead of caregiver/needful person....It was very interesting to see it develope...
The last person I saw was a woman who was - I think - in her mid 30's....Her husband and family were very supportive and she was very successful at losing weight - over 500 lbs! But then she developed an eating disorder...she was so afraid of getting fat again that she actually ended up being under weight and her Dr had to tell her to gain some...
There's so much more to people being morbidly obese than just not putting the fork down...I think that anyone who needs to lose more than 20lbs - not due to baby weight or a glandular disorder - should also see a counselor or therapist to help them with the problems in their hearts as well....and to help them with the changes in their lives and relationships during and for a couple of years after the weight loss...so that the entire problem can be addressed and they can be healthy in body and soul....
