In Your Opinion. . . What Are Manners That Make Kids Truly Shine?
Hey ladies! I'm writing a blog post this week about manners.
What, in your opinions, are manners that kids really need? Not just to make Mom, Dad and Grandma happy in the moment, but throughout life and in order to get ahead.
I'm just getting tired of the "grunt and groan" answers I hear from kids, their inability to make eye-contact, etc., etc. Some parents don't seem to require any more than that from them, however.
What do you think?
For my boys please , thankyou, excuse me, proper handshake & eye contact when meeting someone, hats off when indoors ( they hate that rule especially in restaurants so many wear them but I tell them its rude. Give up bus seat to elderly or girls. Hold doors.
Please, thank you rise and offer a woman a seat, calling adults mister and Mrs. Table manners, you don't eat until everyone has been served.. We have always practiced this in our home and it shows in my children,
Hi Valleymomma1,
I posted my blog yesterday with tons of "mannerly"suggestions from 40ish. I think the ones you made are in there, too. Thanks. You can read it at www.familyfieldguide.com.

Hi Lovemyshadows,
Thanks for your suggestions! I posted my blog yesterday with all the great suggestions from 40ish moms. The one about giving up a seat is in #10, Treat Older People With Respect. (That's a big one for me, too.) You can read the Top Ten http://www.familyfieldguide.com/.
