We had my Dad's funeral on Friday. He knew a lot of people...the church was packed. There were 50 cars in the procession after the hertz and the 3 immediate family cars. He had a police escort and we stopped traffic in our town. It was so amazing how he had touched so many lives and never boasted about even knowing most of the people. At the grave site, one of my brothers broke into the most beautiful Irish song. I lost it...he kept it together . It was amazing. Yesterday, as per Dad's request and funded by Dad, we had an Irish wake (A celebration of life) It was great to hear stories. Cry, laugh, joke and toast Dad. There was also a bag piper. What a wonderful, warm send off. My Dad would have been proud and honored.
A statement he always made, especially when playing sports in his younger years....
I never lost the game....I just ran out of time (As in his life ! ) I love you, Dad!
To all of my wonderful sisters here, thank you so much for your hugs and sympathy. It really touched me and will go a long way! Hugs to all of you!
