It is Feb. 12th. We have parades, cookouts, and most adults drink (alot). It is always the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday. Lent starts on Ash Wednesday so it is the last "celebration" before people give up stuff for Lent. It has been going on since the French settled the Gulf Coast.
