I have access to free rent to open a little hamburger joint on a really busy highway.

I've decided that's what I want to do but it would be small starting out.

We have the usuals, Wendy's, McDonald's, Burger King, but my  burgers would be small town, homemade type with homemade fries, etc.,.

My self esteem is low and I'm terrified to fail. I keep talking myself out of it.

I am paralyzed.

Words of wisdom or any thoughts would be appreciated.

that sounds awesome! I've always wanted to own a little thrift store type shop...

Do you have a name picked out for your shop? will you have more than burgers and fries?  like fried pickles or  hot dogs or other type sandwiches?

I'm still trying to decide what kind of menu to have.

I want to set myself apart with really good food that's always served hot.

The menu probably wouldn't be too big to keep things simple.

I like what Sonic does. Order and have the food brought out to your car within 5 minutes.

Not sure of  much yet.

I think you should go for it. Homemade burgers and fries are always so much better. As long as it's good and fairly quick you should have no problems.

The fact that you're contemplating your own business is fabulous. Do your homework, but don't talk yourself out of it. Do you have a small business association in your town? They can be a tremendous source of information and support.

Thanks for the encouragement, ladies!

My rational self can't believe how unworthy I  feel.

But I find myself feeling like I'm still in high school, worrying that someone will tell me, " Hey, your food sucks and your decor is absurd."

Then I'll have to leave town to be able to even exist.

"There's the lady with the failed restaurant!!!"

Silly, I  know.

At my age, I should be well past this stuff.

That sounds great! But, do you mean that you wanted to be possibly retired by now? I learned awhile ago, that literally, God only knows where we're really supposed to be in this life. At any given time. Hope that didn't overwhelm or anger you. HUGS!
