I have lived in my house since we built it almost 12 years ago. We initially bought a $1000 kenmore elite dishwasher. That dishwasher died after almost 6 years. Being an expensive fix , I decided to buy a new one. I went for the higher end $1500 Miele dishwasher. Everyone said that Miele should last 18 to 20 years. Last month after just about 6 years of owning it, the Miele died. Needing an expensive fix, I again opted for a new one. I just assumed that Miele isn't that good anymore so I bought a Bosch. The repairman that installed the Bosch was surprised to find out that my Miele only lasted 6 years so he began questioning me on how and what I used in my dishwasher. When I told him cascade dishwasher pacs, he said that's the problem. He said that the plastic doesnt dissolve and they get stuck in the dishwasher acting like glue and clogging up the parts. He actually made me throw them out right there. He said to use the tablets like the Finish tablets without the plastic. Don't use plastic dishwasher detergent pacs ! They cost me a $1000 and a $1500 dishwasher. I looked it up online and found many complaints from people having the same problem.

Wow, I use those, too. I am on my second dishwasher in 14 years, but the first lasted a long time. I will switch as well; this dishwasher was pricey. Thanks for the warning!
