We actually dated when we were sophomores in college; actually we were engaged, and he broke it off for a couple of reasons that are still painful, but we've gotten past all that. Well...about 3 yrs ago (after his marriage fell apart and I was in the middle of a contentious divorce as well, but he had no way of knowing that), he decided that he was going to look for me in earnest. He's told me he looked form me for many years in every crowded public place hoping one day he'd run into me. He just wanted to know that I was okay and happy and to apologize for the way he broke things off and broke my heart; he said he didn't expect me to forgive him; he just needed to say it. Anyway...he had this aha  moment that the internet was the way to go, so he searched on Classmates and I was there. He sent me just a very simple note, and he was stunned that I responded. He thanked me for my grace and was surprised that not only did I not tell him to take a hike, but I was truly forgiving. That began a correspondence that went on almost daily. He finally got brave enough to ask if we could meet. He drove the 300 miles from where he lives and we met up at a park. Instantly it was like no time had passed. We hugged for a very long time, though I couldn't look into his eyes. I was afraid he'd think I'd aged so much, but he didn't. He came again a couple of months later and ran a race with me, and we spent the entire weekend catching up and holding one another. After that the daily emails were also accompanied by daily phone calls, and well...here we are. I didn't introduce him to Han at first, but now she knows him well and adores him. He was even her escort choice for the Snowflake Ball this past February.
