I used to have no problem with this rule until I saw this - now I question my spelling of anything with an i and an e in it!!
LMAO. Some words are just very confusing.
i am a pretty good speller but i thought it was i before e except after c. some exceptions i am sure.
interesting. thank goodness for spell check. im am usually a good speller. yet i have only medium confidence in myself when it comes to following rules. period.
plus my typing is questionable.
I learned the exceptions as "Neither leisured foreigner seized the weird height." Beige and neighbour don't count -- they fall into the "sounding like 'A' as is neighbour or weigh" exception. Maybe I'll modify it to a "feisty, leisured foreigner" and "seized the weird height during the heist."
Oh dear...now I'm confused.
