The boy on my hair stylist's mirror

Andrea, the gal who cuts my hair, keeps a picture of her boyfriend's five-year-old son on her mirror.  "Wyatt" is a real sweetie, she said. And from the picture, you can't tell that this cute little guy is blind. Or that he's not potty trained yet and can't talk.

At the age of 15 months, his life changed forever - at the hands of his own mother.

Wyatt is a victim of abusive head trauma (shaken baby syndrome).

If you have a baby or grandbaby in your life, make sure their caregivers see this video - or one like it. And make sure they have a plan. A "Crying Baby Plan."

Because throwing, shaking, or hitting a young child can cause permanent brain damage and even death.

You don't have to watch this video, of course. But watching it will help you understand what children go through when someone they trusted acted in a way that caused irreversible damage. Pass it on.

I used to work with adults that had many mental and physical problems that were either caused in the womb, by abuse, or by accidents, it was heartbreaking.

After my second child you were required to watch a video about shaken baby syndrom or you couldn't leave the hospital.  I think they should do it everywhere.

My youngest was shaken by his dad at 3 months- I thank God I was close enough to snatch him away before he was permaently harmed. My marriage ended that same night. SBS is so sad...
