If you have/had one what is the scarring like when you take it out? Is it like a nose piercing where there's basically nothing after?

I really want one but I'm not sure if it'll "work" for my face, but I'd love to at least try it out. I just want to make sure it won't leave an obvious scar if I take it out. I figured it won't because it's small, but I just want to make sure.

3 moms liked this

I've never taken mine out so I don't know, but why don't you take a picture of your face, then put a small rhinestone sticker (like the ones for fingernail art) on the place where you want to get pierced, then look at it for a few days and see if you like it.  If you do, you can go get the real thing.

The amount of scarring you have depends on a lot of factors: how easily you normally scar, how well you take care of it, the quality and proper sizing of your jewelry, problems (or lack of) during healing such as infection or injury to the piercing, if you play with your jewelry, and how long you have the piercing before removing it.  When heaing is uneventful and the piercing is properly cared for, scarring is usually minimal, with just a small freckle-like mark or slight indention that looks more like a very large pore.  Scarring is reduced even further if the piercing is removed within the first few months.  If you have problems during healing, if you don't take very good care of it, or if you normally scar very easily, you may have more noticeable scarring.
