I was wondering if you receive free stuff while there at Madigan? I will be delivering my 2nd child there. My 1st was in a civilian one and they gave us all kinds of free stuff. Stuff for me and the baby. I was just wondering what all they offer you? What kind of experience did you have also? I have heard some really bad thing about giving birth there.

I'm delivering my second baby there in Sept maybe earlier  but from what i heard you don't get jack crap there lol liek you do in civilian hospitals when i had my daughter in the civilian world(before hubby joined)  we got a free diaper bag ,pack of diapers etc that we was able to bring home from teh hospital even the recieving blankets  they used to swadle her in  wipes and all  but here  i dont think we get nothing  cause on my paper it says we have to bring our own diapers ,blankets etc because they dont let us keep teh ones they use for the babies etc so i dunno what the deal is lol  i eevn have a T-Shirt that she wore in the hospital and one that says i was born at Flagler Hoapital lol  who knows i guess we shall see right lol

I just had a baby at madigan june 26th. The doctors and stuff were extremely nice and so were the nursing staff.....But you dont get jack from them they sometimes even check your bag on the way out.(there is a security guard as you walk in/out).

They sent me home with diapers and formula.. but maybe it was because our son was a preemie... and my husband was in the navy and we lived an hour 15 minutes away ..

my experience was great. i felt a little rushed from the delivery room to the mother and baby unit, but other than that it was great. i was there over christmas and even had christmas dinner offered to me, but we were released in the afternoon. i got to bring home the blanket they used for him that says madigan on it lol and the nurse told me to take w/e was disposable in the room if i wanted it because they would toss it anyways. so i got a nasal aspirator, sponge/comb thing they bathed him with, diapers, two robes (i really liked them for some reason), socks w/ the grippy things on the bottom, toiletries... basically everything that you'd take from hotel and some baby things. just remember to bring your own wipes!!! for some weird reason they don't have any, at least they didn't when i was there in dec 07!

I just had my twins delivered there a couple months ago...they were 2 months early so they were in the NICU for 2 months...and I was admitted on bedrest for 2 months before I delivered....ugh. But all in all, I had a great experience.  The staff were all very friendly.  Having been there for so long I got to know all of the nursing staff and probably got sent home with more than they normally send people home with...had 4 packs of diapers, a couple things of wipes, the washclothes they have...I like them best for giving the babies their baths.  I took the babies last t-shirts they wore while there...their blankets...(if you forget a blanket...they'll send you home with one and ask you to return it later...just don't)  If you have a moment where there aren't any staff in your delivery room...and you have someone there with you...friend or spouse...raid the TV cabinet for squirt bottles, warm compresses, cold compresses, there is even a lip moisturizer and some lotion in there...well worth it and you'll need the stuff later when you get home anyway.  Down in the gift shop they have bears with sweatshirts on that say born at Madigan.  I got sent home with formula because my babies were eating so much by the time that they came home and I needed it for them until I could get them on WIC.

I had a scheduled c section there august 07 and it was a wonderful experience.  I had great service. I brought home a package of diapers, nasal sucker thing, 8 bottles of formula, my breathing measure thing, recieving blankets, homemade knitted matching mittens, booties and hat, got a beautiful handmade blanket, handmade cute reversable bib (one side was pink camo and the other side was pink and white polka dots) and I got 4 piece nannette outfit brandnew with tags.  My nurse brought me a daisy in a vase once I was moved from L&D to the mother and baby unit.  THe food service was great.  I had a great experience.
