we do this one big camp out with like 30 other people each august every year ....it is GREAT ! and we do a few on long weekends at other local campgrounds . i start a couple weeks ahead with a shopping list for the groceries i will need ....then i make a THINGS THAT NEED TO BE PACKED list .... and i make a list of other items that need to be bought before we leave like ...batteries , foil that sort of non edible stuff.then i take one day and prep ....i use those ...5 dollar totes with lids from the dollar store ...one for pots/pans one for papertowels foil plates napkins and a small shoe box one for my utensils....a med size one for towels and washcloths...i keep my groceries in bags and when we get to the camp grounds we unload the car top carrier and i put all my groc and necceities in that for the week. keeps the bugs/animals out ! and everything is at hand right there at my cooking area...i set up 2 canopies next to each other one is for cooking/prepping and the other is for eating ..requires 2 picnic tables. i put my grill at one corner with the table behind me so i can easily turn and get things ....i keep everything right within easy reach.....on that table like ...the plates and such and also my dish soap, handiwipes, bug spray, sun screen and the box with my utensils in it .....i keep 2 vinyl tablecloths to cover each table with clamped down of course and i keep 2 of those really thin like checkered ones to cover the tables with at nite even with the canopies we get dew ...and i just uncover in the morning and the tables are clean and dry (no ashes) and ready for bkfst...our last day of camp bkfst is sort of simple as i cook big breakfast every morning ...but on the last day i make breakfast sandwiches.. with precooked bacon and precooked sausage and walmart has these precooked egg rounds in a bag ...they are great ....heat on the grill add some meat , cheese and a bagel or toasted bread and wham you have hot breakfast sandwich within a few mins. i try to make it as simple and fast as i can because we have a huge tent plus my dtrs tent and two canopies to tear down and pack up.make burger patties ahead of time and freeze them ...freeze all your meat u take ...cut up veggies and put in baggies and freeze ahead of time ...it all helps. and invest in one of those coleman 3 day ice coolers ....i cant tell you how much we have saved in bags of ice with that thing....it keeps the ice much longer than any other cooler we own. and we keep them out of the sun by sticking them under the end flap of our tent that comes down to the ground it unzips and we keep them in there . shaded /cooler.sorry this is so long but i got carried away.i just love it so muchhope this helps others
THE COOLER is called the COLEMAN EXTEME its silver with a white lid .comes on wheels with a handle or a long one ..which is what i have lots of spaceit was about 35.00 i think at walmart but the first season we got it ,,,saved us alot in iceafter we pack up the coolers are last to go in my jimmy.....then i go up to our local eagles club where we are long standing members and i fill our coolers up with ice there .....that usually takes us till the 3rd or 4th day then off we go..
