I noticed there aren't many recent posts so I thought I'd throw one out there. I got the name Aiden from Sex in the City, my favorite show. John Corbett was my favorite guy on the show and I liked the name. John was a little too common. As it turns out Aiden might be the new John, Huh? Anyways anybody with cute or funny stories about naming their Aiden?

My husband picked the name, also because of Aidan Quinn. I researched the name and chose the spelling, AODHAN, based on a saint and the fact that this spelling went out of fashion by the 10th century. Since I knew it was going to be a very popular name, I figured my son would at least have a different spelling to distinguish him from the 3 other Aidans who are bound to be in his class when he starts Kindergarten.

I picked the name based on Aidan Quinn and really loved the meaning when I looked it up in the baby name book. When he was born though, every nurse I had thought I named him for the Sex in the City character. Funny thing was, I didn't even have a TV, let alone watch Sex in the City LOL.

I was pregnant and couldn't think of any "A" names and my husband says "I like Aiden"...I was like what a great idea. You pick the boy name and I'll pick the girl name. So he looked up the meanings of a few A names and Aiden means "Fire"..and his middle name is Myles which means "Soldier"...so together his name means "Fire Soldier"...my husband was a Marine, it couldn't be more fitting. Then they were born and I went back and looked at the top baby names of 2007 and Aiden and Ava were number one this year...I named my twins Aiden and Ava...lol...

That's where I got my Aiden's name... I admit it LOL... I thought that character was a good guy. The type of man I want my son to be.

I wanted Logan soooo bad and my husband just refused. He was stationed in Kosovo at the time so the only way I really communicated with him was through email. I went to the website 1000babynames.com and gave him a list from A-Z of ALL the names that I would consider. Of course Aiden was the 1st one on the list and that is the name he picked. I was kind of mad at him because knowing my husband he picked the 1st name just to piss me off because he knew I wanted Logan. Oh well, 17 months later, Aiden is definetly the perfect name for our little ball of fire! LOL

Mine was a kind of "Sex in the City" story. My name is Kari, and I named my daughter Miranda, not because of the show, I loved it since I was a little girl.
Anyway, my girlfriend told me the name Aidan and I LOVED IT. By chance it matched with the Sex in the City cast, which I happen to love.
