Greetings :-)

I'm a single mom I'm in Chicago with my eye on Texas, however.  my son will be turning three next month on the 8th.  Overall, he's a brilliant and fabulous kid, yet is becoming increasingly more demanding.  Any suggestions for overcoming the " I want, I don't want" phase?

Genuinely and Respectfully,

Hi, I'm a newly single mom by choice, currently going through a divorce from my 2 year old son's father, due to his verbal and emotional abuse.  We were together in total for 12 years, only married for 3..but just really wanted to say hello to all of you as I'm kind of in that adjustment phase as well.  Though I welcome it and am taking it by the reigns, this was something I did not plan overall, to be a single mother, but I know it's the best decision for my son and I.

I want him to grow up being respectful of women and people in general, and not be a bully, be smart, intellectual, loving and kind hearted.  He's the sweetest kid you would ever meet and just so loving, he wants to be everyones friend, he just melts my heart away (outside of his terrible two tantrums lol).

So if any of you ladies ever need an ear, I'm hear for you.  I don't get on the site daily but I try to every couple of days a week, so I'll certainly always reply back to you as soon as I see the message.

Hello ladies,

It has been a struggle to be a single mom.  But those moments when the kids want your full attention, just explain it to them.  That you want to be there for both of them.  But you love them and no matter what you are with them all the time.  But you can not split in two pieces.  It would be nice sometimes, we would get so much more done.  But at the end of the day you are home with them tucking them in and reading with them.  that is what matters.  Keep your chin up.  But we all need to vent from time to time.

I am a newly single momma after 23 years of marriage. I only have the 10 year old at home yet so my struggle is mostly with myself as the help I was so used to having isn't there anymore. We spent about a year and a half where he(child) was angry with me and his father for breaking our family apart. the other 3 are above 18 and understand better but -it's getting easier. I moved closer to my family and have support I haven't had since I got married. I hope anyone feeling like me would know another day is coming and doing what ya can on a daily basis is all ya can do.

The hardest part for me, beyond the financial trouble and the lack of parenting help is not being able to share their accomplishments with their dad. You see couples all around you looking in each others eyes with a sense of "WE DID IT!" and you stand there alone with no one to share it with.

Hello ladies! I've been separated from my soon-to-be ex, father to my 4-yr-old, since October of 2006. About 8-9 months ago he decided that it was no longer necessary to offer any financial assistance since I didn't have a job. I haven't seen a cent since. Even when he was giving some support it was all of $120.00 a month. He told me that the only way I'd see anymore money outta of him was if the government made him pay. I've recently applied for FS and FF. I've already been approved for FS and have an appointment on Tuesday for the FF. Crossing fingers X. I also have a 7 yr old daughter that lives with her dad and less-than-desirable stepmom. UGH! Abbie says she loves her and calls her mom way more often than I'd like. After the separation, I went thru some pretty hard times, mentally and financially. I thought it would be best for my daughter to live with her father. I didn't realize that he would be getting married within a year and a half and I'd lose most visitation with my daughter. It's as though they have they're little family and I'm no longer part of the equation. I could go on and on. But I won't. I don't have many truimphs, but many struggles. Hi Fives to all you single mommas out there doing your best and right by your kids. Many blessings.

I guess i would consider myself a single mom... I do live with a significant other but none of my children are his. I have been a single mom off and on since i was 22... i went through 2 marriages.

As my older son can tell you i have done my share of crying and being upset but in the end i have been there to hold them when they are ill or just plain upset.

I have found that life as a single parent has its ups and downs.... my significant other does not know his place yet and is afraid to say anything to my children in fear that they will not like him.

I praise all single moms....

LIVE LOVE LAUGH wink
