I am 36 and 16 weeks pregnant with our 2nd child. I am scheduled for an amnio tomorrow morning. Can anyone share a personal experience with me as to what I can expect. Thanks.
i was pg with my dd at 36 and they didnt do any different testing than when i was pg at 26. im 38 and pg again and they want to do the nt testing and i guess some other (i cant remember). what did your dr suggest? i dont know about hearing the high false positive to just go into the amnio, seems easier to just do that from the start. good luck!

I had an amnio when I was pregnant with my twins its not that bad they had to do it twice on me one for each baby. It was easier on me if I just watched the monitor they set up for u to watch then u get to see ur baby that should keep your mind off of the procedure. It didnt hurt much it stings when they put the needle in and them feel a little pop when they go into the amniotic sac. I did fine through my husband not so well he almost fainted lol. Hope all goes well with it.
thanks for sharing.....
i had my frist son at 34 and no amnio....the blood test is less reliable so i just feel a strong desire to have the amnio this time around....i am 36 and it was suggested i get an amnio for my "advanced maternal age".....geez, being over 35, i don't feel old....but i guess they have to draw the line somewhere.....
...in the end, i would rather be suprised at 17 weeks than at 40...whatever it is, it is.....and i am someone that just wants to know....
i have no reason to think anything is wrong and hope the test makes me sleep easier at night.....this time around i am super pre-occupied with baby's health so i am hoping for some reassurance :)
