Doctors visit..

My oldest daughter had a doctors appointment yesterday and we showed up 12 minutes late. I have always thought there was a 15 minute grace period before you miss the appointment. We have been seeing the same pediatrician all their lives. ( they are 7 & 8 ) I spoke to a very rude nurse who informed me that we missed the appointment. I was late..that was fine. I asked her if she could work her in for today because my daughter is sick.  She was running a low grade temp for 3 days, has a cough, sneezing and she was real tired while she had the fever. This nurse looked at me and said "no..it's Friday afternoon" when I asked about her seeing the doctor today. I told her Sara is sick and she looked up, gave my daughter a weird look and told me " I can get her in Monday afternoon".  I was ticked!! Not because the appointment had to be rescheduled but because she was incredibly nasty with me and wouldn't work her in. I wouldn't have worried about it if it had been me going to the doctor. We have a history with this doctor and the head nurse always has worked us in before when I called and told them she was sick.

Do you think I am in the wrong for getting so upset? I am planning on talking to the office manager Monday to let her know about this.

This is not the first time this has happened. She looks down her nose at everyone like she's better then us. She needs to realize without us she would have no job.

All of the other staff is extremely nice and good with our girls. It's just this one snooty nurse.

Honestly, I have zero problems with a doctor's office canceling your appointment if you're more than a couple of minutes late.  I've sat in enough doctor offices for hours, at least partially because of people who come in late.  My doctor, my kids' doctor, and DH's doctor all have late policies... more than 10 minutes, and your appointment is canceled, and they do not handle walk-ins, so there's no squeezing in between other appointments.

I guess I'm with the pp, I don't like having my appointment pushed back because someone was late.  The only time I expect them to squeeze me in is when they cancel on me.

rudeness is never ok.  But well as an anally early person i am going with the other posters.  After 10 minutes i go with it being cancelled as well.
