My "sister by choice" homeschools her kids and they have only been to public school one year and they hated it so she started back. I have been thinking about home schooling if my hubby goes into the Navy as is planned. But my kids will be 16 and 13 (my oldest will have graduated by the time we move) so I am undecided with them already being in the public school system. The main thing she worries about is the proper social connections and loves her groups that meet at the park and such. Her real sister also homechooled and went so far as too have a graduation for her kids with cap and gown and the works and found a "prom" thing with other homeschooled kids. They live in a much bigger city then we do though. There is a ton of great stuff out there! Good luck!

I'm sure there are groups on here dedicated to homeschooling. Check one out!

I homeschool I have 4 kids kinder,2ed,4th and 9th. First thing go to lib check out some books on homeschooling, go to the hslda.org website to find out the rules and laws about for your state, join yahoo :) check out yahoo groups for homeschooling groups clubs ect for your area. (I have found a speech and debate team for my oldest --that travels and competes with all the schools around they won last year, a field trip group that only meets for trips once a month --dont have to go to them all. two teen youth groups for my dd that meet weekly, a group I meet with weekly for all my kids that has a history class a gym class a sewing class and a writing class. As well as tons of information on homeschool swims (at local pools and beaches-two places meet weekly) skating (one place has once a week one has once a month, a gym type place with a homeschool time that is weekly as well. TONS of stuff there are ppl all over homeschooling I never ever would of guessed before starting. anyway :) also join the happy homeschoolers group on here for help on getting started info on getting started they will help you with any questions or concerns you have FROM real moms who are doing it :) not like here where ones that dont lol tell you why you should not ;)

i did not start until the end of last school year and I really wish I would of done it sooner NO regrets only been a positive thing for everyone and yes lol if you cant see from above my kids still have friends lol as well they still have the schooled kids in the neighborhood plus all the homeschooled kids they have recenly met :) as well as scouts, swimming lessons, pokeman club :)  good luck at first it was hard to find our way and path with it but have it now.

my oldest uses a school at home program the rest I pick and choose there curriculm I dont buy anyset or use any schools at home for them except time4learning.com we do use and pay for then I add to it.

Our family homeschools and we love it.  I would join happy homeschoolers.  They are a great group of women.  If you are serious about homeschooling I would go to your local library and start reading.  There are a lot of books out there with lots of help to get you started.  Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions.  My boys are in 1st and 3rd grade and we have always homeschooled.  Also I would look up some local homeschooling groups.  They are such a great help.
