hmmmm. I do not know where to start on this one. Part of me thinks its a good idea the other part of me thinks it is none of the governments business what we eat. I do receive WIC and FS but to me WIC is designed to help you eat healthy while pregnant and after for the baby to eat good. Food stamps not so much. We get 164 a month for myself son and husband. I buy all is cereals and fruits and veggies with it, 25 a month since WIC will not cover it. We buy stuff for lunch and dinner and after that we still pay another 200 a month for everything. We pay for soda, chips, COFFEE and all the stuff out of our own pocket. I do think some people abuse it but I do not think its our right to ban it .
FS and PA are socialist programs.
If you want a cookie, go bake some, its much cheaper than store-bought and you can buy the ingredients with FS.

When someone else pays for your food...you should only be able to buy what they tell you that you can. If you want someting different...buy it yourself. A 2 liter of soda or some cookies can't cost that much. Unfortunatly...people can buy crap with food stamps...so what's really the point of this. But..I do think food stamps should be likeWIC...only allowed certain things. I buy my own food...so I eat what I want.
I don't normally agree with the government telling peple what to eat or anything, but if you are getting money from the government then they should have a say in what you eat.
it really isn't any different than any other "government" funded program.... WIC, gives a list, section 8, selects locations, head start locations, which roads are repaired, where agencies are located... the list goes on... why not direct where food stamps are used.. we do have epidemic obesity in this country...
I agree about the government destroying our economy
....but, really, what would really be so bad if food stamps could only buy certain foods (lets say meat, vegetables (canned or fresh), fruit (canned or fresh), cooking staples (flour, sugar, oil, spices), dairy, eggs)??
Would it really be that bad if the government regulated food stamp purchases?
And, if so.....what is so bad about it?

Instead of starting a whole new drama post why not just post your opinion in the original thread abou t this?
If someone doesn't want to be told what to do with money they get from someone else...then they don't have to take it. It's not a "right" to get food stamps...it's a privledge.
People recieving food stamps can but all the candy bars and soda for there kids- ok fine that's a parenting choice, but they can not buy soap powder, toilet paper, dish detergent, shampoo etc- how about letting them but the things needed to keep the childrens cloth's and hair clean. I thing they should be allowed to have some junk food if they so desire but on the same hand if they are going to control that add the needed items.Maybe then some of these children i have seen would be a little cleaner.
