not sure where to ask this, so i figured i'd post it here for the more experianced ladies. my husband and i are d.o.n.e having babies! lol. i love my kids, we got our girl and our boy and i have way too many health problems to try and go through what i had to go through to have them. sooo, i heard about "essure". i looked it up and this is the info on it---> During the procedure, which takes less than 10 minutes, an Essure-certified doctor slides the small, soft inserts through the natural pathways of your vagina and cervix into your fallopian tubes, so no surgery or incision is required. The very tip of each insert remains visible to your doctor, providing immediate confirmation of proper placement. The flexible Essure inserts are made out of the same trusted, silicone-free material used in heart stents, so they bend and conform to the shape of your fallopian tubes while remaining securely in place.

Over the next three months, your body works with the Essure inserts to form a natural barrier within each of your fallopian tubes. These barriers prevent sperm from reaching the eggs so that pregnancy cannot occur. During this three-month timeframe, you must continue to use another form of birth control.(basically your body creates scar tissue as a natural barrier). now, they USE to use a nickle wire, and i've heard a lot of horror stories about that one. but now with this stuff...im super interested. anyone have this one done? if so, how's that workin for ya? would you reccomend it? ive never been so excited to go to my OB lol. i cant take birth control of any kind, for medical reasons, and this seems so much less evasive then putting my hubby through the pain of, as his friends say "getting kicked in the nuts" for the snip....any personal feedback would be much appreciated.thnx!

I have it, I LOVE it!!!  I was sore for one day, felt like i had mild period cramps.  And since then I can't even tell they are there.  No pain, nothing! The worst part was testing to see if they were in place and closed completely, that dye cramped me up worse than anything.  Other than that it was a piece of cake.  My Dr did put me under general anesthetic, however my BFF had hers done while awake.  And she was the same as me, crampy for one day, hasn't noticed a thing since.

awesome! i have had the whole dye thing done before (no anesthetic) because my tubes were blocked when we were TTC our son. the pressure from the dye unblocked one tube and i got pregnant. i too was a little crampy afterwords from that, but if thats all there is too it.....woohoo!! im lookin forward to it :D

As with anything there are side effects that you need to research on. They may or may not happen, but you want to be informed. There is one lady on CM, Kitchysgirl that has had major problems from it. IMO, if your husband is ok with being snipped, I would let him have it done. I didn't have Essure done, had my tubes tied.

did Kitchysgirl have this procedure done, or the one using the nickle wire? ive heard a lot of problems with the old nickle wire one. i had bilateral tubal occlusion happen to me naturally after having my daughter, we unblocked one tube, got pregnant...and now i need that tube blocked again lol.

I've heard about it but haven't made a decision yet.

I prefer to have my tubes cut and tied off. I think its safer than having anything inserted in my body. I am having mine done after I have my baby. I never herd of this but I personally wouldn't do it. Your husband getting fixed would be the easiest and less invasive of anything.

I attempted to have it done, but the dr said he couldnt find my fallopian tubes. I know they are there, I have three kids. I also have been told that I have a tilted uterus, so that may be the reason. They did put me completely under, though. There were more people in the room when I had the procedure done than when I gave birth, all three times, combined!

My friend had it done couple years ago. She also can't take hormonal birth control for medical reasons. She loves it! Has had zero problems.

Does sound intriguing. I wonder how reversible it is...just in case.

I was done after our 3rd, but had to wait to do the tubal because my gyne didn't want to do it at my (young) age. Had no complications from the tubal ligation other than some yucky side effects from the anesthesia.

bleh. hope I never have to have surgery again.

I dont see the point in having something inserted to cause scaring....then you have to wait 3 months for it to work. When I had my tubes tied, because I havent had no other issues t hey just basically caterized my fallopian tubes, to cause it to scar.... I have had any issues and only one day of pain. It just seems odd to insert something, what of your body rejects it or it causes u to have extensive scaring? Imo not worth the risk...
