Puppy Suggestions

I made up my mind about 2 years ago that I was not having anymore children. I have PCOS plus..Im at a point in my life where..a baby would..put a different spin on the plans I want for my family and I. But..

I want a puppy soooo bad!!!

I work from home and am relatively active. I have a yard and have a dog park near my house.

I know I want a puppy and it doesnt necessarily need to be a Polly Purebred..but..if I was getting a breed..I would want it papered.

What kind of dogs do you have? Any suggestions for me? Tips? Advice?

Golden retrievers are great family dogs. My in-laws had one and he was awesome. I am also partial to beagles so I'd recommend that too. LOL But I wish you luck with whatever you decide! :)

I had pitbulls for last 10yrs but she passed away. If u can get past stereotypes they are great dogs. Hyper as pups. Now we have German shepherd pup.

My mom had a Black Lab and I grew up with a Golden Retriever named Muffin..oh..what a sweetheart she was..she would let me lay on her..dress her up and she followed me everywhere..

Do Beagles make a lot of noise..my SO has this thing about "yappers" or "barkers"..and Im like "ummm they are dogs..they make noise..silly!"

I wanted a Papillion..but I think you are right..retrievers or labs..would be great family dogs..

Oh but I am just so torn..I want them all!! Save them all from the Humane Society then start picking the strays off the street..

I love Pits..my friend has one named..Chuey..who thought he was a lap dog..he was so sweet! My sister in law and brother have a German Shepherd pup right now..and he is kinda goofy..but they get so big, right? What about shedding?

Yes, beagles are known for howling. LOL but they are sweet and affectionate dogs.

We have a golden retriever...she is awesome.  Wonderful family dog and protective of us as well.  She's 14 now and starting to slow down and is getting pretty senile...but she's still a good dog.

If we ever get another dog....DH wants a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.  From all the research we've done about that breed they make great family dogs as well.

We had a Papillion.  She was a sweet dog but very 'fragile'....not a great breed if you have young children.  We had read about the breed and that they are 'smart and easily trained'....I treid for over 2 years with that dog and she was never fully housebroken!  (And, no, she didn't have anything physically wrong....we had her to the vet several times.)  We ended up having to re-home her....ILs took her which worked out great in that THEY could deal with her day-to-day and the kids could still see her.  She passed away last spring...she was only 10  years old.

Oh no! Poor puppy..some lil dogs are just like that. My BF has a papillion and he loved it..but I would be intimidated to get the same results as you did with yours.

My dad has a Cavalier King Charles..Spaniel..named Dolli..and she is so sweet..but very protective over my dad..when she is in his lap..she wont let anyone near him. She was also saved from an abused home..from the Humane Society..she is a very good looking dog..and loves the kids when they are not near my dad!
