My Mom is 68yrs old and just took a test for her CNA......
and PASSED!!!! She called me so happy and excited she starts school on May 7th. I'm just a bit upset because she is suppose to come out to PA to visit (she is in CA) and see her Grandkids in their recitals for 2 weeks in June and class ends in July. I'm hoping she can still come. I am VERY proud of my Mom considering my 54yr old MIL can't even handle her own bills or any paper work without my Husband's help.

Good job mom!
Quoting celestegood:Good for her, but does she know how physical of a job that is? It's physically grueling, as well as psychologically difficult, work to do. I would not think anyone over the age of say, fifty, should do work like that.
I know, but its rare that an older woman can do that kind of work for years on end and not end up with physical damage.
Source? My best friend who is 72 and blew her back out at fifty two and twenty years of working as a nursing aide; working as an aide for years myself. My friend now does light duty in home care-it's all she can physically do.
I'm not saying that some older women can't do it-but its hard to find a woman in her sixties who is physically able to do that kind of work. Have you done that kind of work for any extended period of time? If you have, then you know what I'm talking about.
Quoting Tannaris:
Hahaha. That's funny. I worked with a CNA who was 64 and she could put the younger ones to SHAME!

I understand your concern and trust me I thought the saem thing but I know she can do it, she has worked in wherehouses since I can remember and she can still lift up to 50lbs with no problem. Plust she has been a caregiver to the elderly for 8yrs. I know she can do it, I just don't know for how long I am just proud she went and took the test and passed with no studying and not really knowing what was on the test. I am truly Proud :D Here I sit not wanting to go back to school she puts even me to shame :D
