In the spirit of finding the sunny side of each stage & milestone... I'm happy to say that DS learned to pull up and cruise about 8 weeks ago. Watching him explore and enjoy his world with this new skill is one of the reasons being a mom is so wonderful!
But with this new milestone... he lost one of the concepts I had worked SO HARD to teach in months prior... going to sleep on his own. From his prerogative, it's much more entertaining to cruise the perimeter of the (bare!) crib, than to lay down and rest. And there you have the beginning of my demise... the 1hr+ of rocking, soothing and ultimately the nursing which ensues... just to get him to go to sleep.
I'm worn out from providing this ritual, multiple times per day, for each nap/bedtime over the past 8 weeks. I've attempted the hands-off method... but even when he's tired he just cruises 45+ minutes until he's bored and it turns to stage 10 screaming. He's never been easy to put down- has fought it since birth but I'm one of those moms that feels that sleep is important for his growth and development, so I've put in the time to structure his schedule and to teach him sleep.
He still needs the naps... but I'm getting desperate to make this easier!
