Baby Chloe was born on June 5, 2011 at 11:52 AM. 7lb 13oz, 20 1/2 inches.
I have a budget of $150 a week to feed DH and I and 3 boys(10, 8 and 5.5.) and our dogs, snake and tortoises....plus household goods/toiletries....I rarely spend that much, more like $125.
I meal plan around what is on sale and what I have on hand and cook nearly everything from scratch. Building a good pantry is essential! That can be kind of a pricey start up but once it is built it is a replace as necessary and alot cheaper.
I don't know how you guys do it. We are a family of 5. DH is a triathlete and eats a lot. My boys (2, 4, 6) think they are grown men and eat that way. We don't eat meat or dairy or processed food, I shop at Trader Joe's and a store called Glazier's that has cheap produce. I try to keep my bill under $200, but I could easily spend $250. I'd love to be able to get everything we need for $150.
Typically I spend around $50-100 a week. I buy the majority of my fruits and veggies from the farmers market because it is way cheaper, Meats and sides typically come from trader joes. We do as much organic as we can. We've cut out the processed stuff. At times I will get a large amount of meat at the beginning of the month which cuts my weekly cost down significantly. Coupons aren't much help for me because most of the items in coupons are stuff we don't eat anymore. I've found farmers markets to be the biggest money savers.
Prices have gone up A LOT over the last year on the stuff we eat/buy. I spend $200-$250 per week on everthing we need - we are a family of 7 with two cats and a guinea pig as well (I include their food/supplies in my 'grocery' budget. We don't buy much processed food - we have to make almost everything from scratch because of the limited amount of kosher food available in our area.
