My ds (12) will be starting middle school this year which means he will be changing in the locker room. Didn't think this would be a big deal. However, I got a call from one of my son's friend's mothers who he had recently had a sleepover with and apparently she had noticed a pair of his briefs on her bathroom floor and she informed me that none of the kids wear briefs anymore. She told me the kids all either wear boxers or boxer-briefs. She told me that years ago one of her older sons came home and was embarrassed to be the only one wearing briefs and they had to go get him some new underwear.
So, I decided to go out and get my son a few pairs of boxers and boxer briefs in fear that he would get made fun of. Unfortunately, he didn't really find these very comfortable so he decided not to wear them and is going to stick with the briefs.
Should I be worried about him getting teased in the locker room? Is this really a big deal or is this mother exaggerating?
I do not have boys in Middle school but I do ohave one that perfers boxer briefs and the othe one briefs...but I too am interested in what is said
OMG really umm let him wear what he likes not what somone elses mom likes.... My dh wears boxer briefs as do my kids but they dont because someone else likes them they do because they like them and they do not change clothes in any school setting what so ever... Dh wanted them first ended up liking them the boys idk oldest picked them out one day shopping now only does the younger one actually has both but I think her perfers his boxer briefs as I wash them more often.
DONT teach him to like and do things only because others do teach him to be happy with the choices he makes involving his cloths...
according to my dh the boy who picks on yours because he was staring at his underwear is the one the other boys will pick on...
so glad I dont have to worry about my kids haveing a hard time at school because of their choice in underware they were thank god taught to be happy with themselves and not to bully or to put up with it...

If he gets teased, he'll wear the other ones you bought. I wouldn't worry.
She is exaggerating.
My oldest son (10th grade) has changed in the locker room for gym and cross country since 7th and has never got made fun of for not wearing boxer briefs.
I think she is exaggerating. Let your son wear what he wants to wear. My son is going into 6th grade to. He wears boxers but if he wore briefs that would be fine as long as he was comfortable.
