Hi! I am new to Cafe Mom and sad that it has taken me so long to find out about this great site! :) What a great place to talk and share! I am a SAHM with 4 kids... 7,5,2,1. Something that really interests me right now is prepping. I love the thought of being prepared for whatever may come our way. Esp. in the uncertain times we live in right now. Is there anyone else out there who likes to do this as well? I'm pretty new at it but would love to connect with others who enjoy this! :)
I've been reading books and making lists. Quite overwhelming... lol
If you prep, what is your favorite part?
Wow... so I knew nothing about prepping and had to just look it up. So what part of it do you do? It is very interesting.
Hi! Well, with 4 kids, the thought of anything happening and not being prepared scared me. So I starting looking into it more. Seems to me like things are crazy right now... in India a couple of weeks ago, their power grid collapsed and 350 million were without power and most of them still are. I can't imagine if that happened here and according to all that I've read, it is certainly possible. So, I've started stocking up on soup and similar items when they go on sale and trying to keep everything rotated so it stays fresh. I've stocked up on toliet paper and diapers... things like that... as a just in case!
We aren't preppers. But we do live in the country and since we grow, can, hunt and butcher most of our own food I guess some people would see it that way. Our drinking water comes from the well, not city water. Every Time I see a show about the preppers the first thing that comes to mind is the Hank Williams song "Country folk can survive",lol..
Also, just saw at Sam's the other day they are selling buckets that are 30 day survival kits for 1 person.
Welcome!
We are prepping for a collapse of the economic and government systems. Basically, we belive the goverment will run out of money, welfare will end, and the people on those sort of programs will riot, which will take down the government and lead to a period of anarchy and looting.
My favorite part of prepping is when we get together with our prepping party, which is the several other families that are like minded, and we do prep classes. Each meeting, we learn something new that helps us prep. It is fun to get the chance to hang out, and let our kids play, while working toward a common goal of being prepared for disaster.

This is how we feel as well! How did your families all find eachother? We have been looking for others who feel similarly and can't find hardly anyone. I really think it is important to get to talk to others who feel the same way... have any open spots in your group? hehe :)
Yeah when I lived in the states I always lived in fear that something like that would happen. I live in Sweden no not because of that though.
