I stubbed my toe a week ago. it was all swollen and purple under the nail. almost a week later it's no longer swollen but it's still purple and it still kills me to wear shoes. any advice?

Sounds like you are likely going to lose your toenail. It will hurt for a while.

broken toe is a possibility and there's not much you can do about it

about your nail - it'll take more than a week to heal, the other thing is all that purple is blood, you may need to relieve the pressure from the blood under your nail by piercing between the nail and skin with a needle (I know ouch and yuk) but speaking out of experience here...  you need to give time for a new nail to form underneath, takes a while ... when the new nail is formed, the purple one will fall off.

I went to the dr and had the toe nail removed after it starting coming loose and tape possible broken toe to his partner toe for awhile
