Hi Cafemoms,

Has anyone had any good luck with their tutoring centers? I have a 3rd grade son that needs extra help in reading and math. Thanks for your replies.

My nephews went to Sylvan for a while.  It was really expensive my SIL says and it didn't help them at all.  She pulled them out and put them with a private tutor.  She was able to really help them and was a lot cheaper.

No. My oldest went to Huntington a couple years ago. It was really expensive. We had a better experience with a private tutor.

I haven't sent my kids to one, but my nephew did go to Sylvan.  It really only helped while he was going, but his grades dropped again as soon as he left the program.  It was really expensive too.

Well my son is in 2nd grade and he has been going to Kumon for about a month and I have seen quite a bit of a difference.  It's $100/month for twice a week and also take home booklets for the rest of the days. I can keep you updated as we go along. Hope this helped.
