Let your 8y and 12y dd color their hair because their older sister is? My 20y old cousin just posted a pic on fb of her two younger sisters 12 ~ 8 coloring their hair, I am sorry but I think 8y is WAY to young to be ruining your hair and the sad thing is they both had the best natural hair color idk why they wanted to change it

I would not mind depending on my child's maturity.

same here I was either 13 or 14 when I did and the only reason I did was it was getting darker due to me going threw puberity (sp)

Maybe the 12y but not an 8y thats way to young to be putting peroxide on the hair imo

I don't know my 8 year old is more mature than my 12 years. I would let him if he asked, however I believe the child has to be mature enough.

My oldest daughter got her first set of stripes (wide, fire-engine red stripes) when she was 12.  She wasn't allowed to use unusual colors at the high school she attended.....nor could she at her one summer job.  But for the last year and a half she has been doing her whole head in unusual colors.....blue, purple, red...right now she is green.  She is 20 now.

My 16 year old wants to do something colorful....I have no problems with expression through hair color, but I'm not sure if, for her, it is because SHE wants it or wants to do it just because her big sister does.  She did get reddish-orange highlights when she was 13, once.  So, we have not allowed her yet.  Our 13 year old is NOT allowed to color her hair at all by her school....so even if she wants to, she will have to wait a long time.

My daughters can color their hair any way they like when they can pay for it and its tastefully done.

I might. I started coloring my hair at 9. My mom was doing her hair at home and she had some color left. My aunt took it and made me some highlights with it.
