Freaking out and puzzled

Went my well woman exam today and the doctor said that my uterus was enlarged and pushed to side and that he would have to do an ultrasound next week. He said that most likely since I exhibited no signs or symptoms that he expects to find fibroid tumors instead of cancer. Just the word tumors has my mind racing and worrying with all sorts of scenarios but on another note I found it odd that my doctor focused more on selling me prescriptions and advising me to get a $5000 experimental gentics testing that insurance won't pay for and a mastectomy all because one of my half sisters had breast cancer 5 years ago. Even though I don't even have breast cancer. Doctors are to quick to money hungry these days

While I was in surgery getting my gallbladder removed, my Doc found my uterus to be enlarged and tipped back. I went to my Gyno and I had laparoscopy surgery (for something else) he checked out my uterus and later told me that everything was fine. My Gyno told me that sometimes that happens for no reason. I hope this ends up being the same for you. Good Luck!!!

I can tell you that the mastectomy issue is legit. My cousin's mom, aunt and I think gma died from breast cancer. She has the gene and had a mastectomy (by choice) last year. It supposedly dropped her risk to single digits.

Fibroid tumors are NOT cancer and are extremely common. They can cause heavy periods and fertility issues though. I had so many issues with mine that I opted for hysterectomy. There are other options depending on where and how large they are. Most of the time BCP will keep them from getting larger so that is usually the first course of action.
