My first born has my maiden name, and we receive child support, its so difficult to have your information updated with them so I went with hibernating.
We wanted to change her last name but my DH would have to adopt, & then we wouldn't get CS anymore! The cs is his only contribution to by dd life!

I know someone who did it because she was an only child, a daughter, and her father was ill and going to die soon. She wanted to carry on her fathers name.

Personally, I did it because I lost my dad. The only thing I have left of him is his name.

To carry on their family name while also taking their spouses last name

I hyphenated my sons last name because his father and I were not married
