Moms of 8, 9 or 10 year olds ....

I need your opinions regarding bedtimes ...   what time do you put your 8-9-10 year old to bed ?

Here's the deal at my house, 7pm she goes up for her shower, teeth brushing, PJs, brush hair etc 7h30pm to 8pm is free time she can either watch TV, play her DS or do whatever she wants in her room.  8pm is time to say goodnight, it's technically lights out & no more getting up.  She usually asks for a book in bed and I oblige my guess is she falls asleep before 8h30 hits.  This being said she goes to school, she's cranky if she doesn't get enough sleep.  She's up (no matter what time she went to bed) at 6h30am every morning.

Now, I see kids still playing outside at 7h45pm, my neighbour's kids are still in the pool at 8pm which of course makes DD mad.  She's arguing with me that her bedtime is too early.  I keep telling her THEY are the ones that are out of whack.  Am I wrong ?

My 10 yr old almost 11 doesn't go to bed till 9:30 or so. He gets up bw 6:30 and 7:00. We also have ballgames till 9 some nights. As long as he can get up and be ready and maintain good grades and get his reading done we don't push it. He is pretty responsible tho. If can't be up and ready to go prepared for the day and pleasant he loses TV iPod and whatever else he is into .

Well, when they were un public school and needed to be up at 545am, they went to bed at 830pm during the week. Now that they are being homeschooled, they go to bed between 830-10pm as they get tired, but no later than 1030pm at the latest. I have them up by 730am to walk the dog and have breakfast and then we get started on work. 9-11 hours of sleep is appropriate for kids that age who are still growing and need their rest.

My daughter is almost 9 and bedtime is at 7:00 because it takes her and my son (5) about an hour to settle in. So they will read while in bed. They dont normally complain about their bedtime. The get up at 7am every school morning and gotta be there by 8am. Weekends they will go to bed before 10pm.

My twin 9 year old daughters go to bed at 8:00 PM. Usually they are sleeping by 8:30 or 8:45 at the latest.  They are up at 6:45 AM.
