Hi I am just wondering how old your child/children were when you first left them home alone? Even for an hour or so? Thanks I really have no idea what age, I know we were pretty young.

I just started leaving my dd home alone this school year. She's 9 yrs old. However, it's only for about 20 minutes when I walk ds to the babysitter....who only lives 3 streets away.

When we lived in Pennsylvania....not until age 13.  And we never left ynger siblings in their care until age 15 (and only rarely then...or only for very short periods of time).

Living where we do now, in northern Israel, we have left even our 9 year old home alone.  I'm not worried about my kids safety here and I know that even my 9 year old knows how to behave without an adult around.

Not until they are 12 years old, that is my rule. So far I only have one child older than 12 so she is the only one that gets to stay home alone with the kids so far, my 11 yr old son will be next and he's right around the corner from turning 12. My oldest daughter is 14.

I'm not there yet ... legally here, you can leave your child home alone at the age of 12

10. My oldest has proven himself trustworthy and level headed in an emergency situation. He is 11 now and even babysits for short periods.

My boys were 10,11,and 12. My 12 year old took a cpr class so I felt more comfortable leaving them. At those ages it was for the most 1 hour at a time though. My advice to parents is evaluate your children's maturity and their obedience to you when your not looking.
