Decorating advice - extra long hallway

The hall that connects the kids' rooms to the rest of the house is really long.  28 feet long from door to door.  It's hardwood, so I can hear when someone is walking down it (I've gotten so good I can tell which kid it is too!).  I'd like to get a rug for it, but finding a runner that is long enough, not persian (weird flowery patterns, crazy colors, not my thing) and not $1000 is really difficult!!

Any suggestions?

Check out Home Depot.....they have "runners by the foot" at reasonable prices and in some nice, plain, patterns.

You could try an alpaca farm. The rugs are super nice and they may be able to order a specific length.

I also suggest Home Depot because you can get runners cut by the foot and they offer them in simpler styles.

Amazon had a bunch of really nice rugs, runner's, etc on clearance.

You could also put 2 or three smaller runners and space them out.

What about FLOR tiles. They are carpet tiles that you can use as carpet, make a rug and I have seen runners also .They might be a little pricey though. Check out FLOR.com
