fell down the stairs :(

I thought I was on the bottom stair this morning but there was one stair left. I missed it and fell down the remaining stair. Thankfully I was able to catch myself on the wall so I didn't fall but I hurt my big toe on my left foot. I can't bend it or walk on it. I can't ice it because my foot swells and everything below my knee hurts if my feet get cold.
Any clue how to help this? I can't take the day off of homeschooling because of my toe! I still have to cook, clean, etc. I haven't even let the chickens and sheep out yet or eaten breakfast because it hurts too much.
Any ideas?

It helps as long as I don't have to get up.

You can still give it a shot minus the salt.

I once ignored an injury like that.  My husband when he came home from work told me I should take it in and get it checked because he thought it looked broken.  I told him I didn't think it was that bad and it would heal.  Well it healed, but I still feel the pain, because it was indeed broken and didn't heal properly.

Moral of the story, a little break in your day to see if you had a break in your foot is far better than later finding out you've got major issues that will cost more time and money to heal.
