For us its part of the holiday. We go to my Grandparents house every year for Christmas eve and then come home. We let our son open one present, read the Night Before Christmas, and then set out the milk and cookies (carrots for the reindeer) for Santa. I'm 31 and all of my grandparents are still living so our Christmas is spread out over a week or more.
In our home it certainly is, and Christmas Eve is probably even more important to us than Christmas day.
We always do something special on Christmas eve.
