My son doesn't always like his name, its Celtic and kinda unusual for a boy in the states. We used Michael as his middle name incase he wanted to use that instead. I would support him if he wanted to offically change it.

All of our names were compromises, but each one fits perfectly! I guess I'll have to use my favorites as pet names, lol!

My oldest son doesn't like his middle name, but since we never really use it, no need to change it.

1 mom liked this

By the time I was in 2nd grade, I was going by my middle name.  We moved for 5th and I thought I'd try my first name again.  It was horrible.  I was teased so badly and just miserable about it.  By 6th grade we were in the process of legally changing my name.  Looking back, I think the name my parents gave me is beautiful.  I'd change it back if it weren't such a hassle (although it's a hassle as it is since my birth certificate was not changed).  Still, when we were naming our children, I wanted "normal" names if that makes any sense.  My youngest's middle name is the same as my birth middle name.

No, I wouldn't change her name and luckily she likes her name.   Me on the other hand, I'd love a different name! lol

My son refuses to go by the short version of his name. I wouldn't change his name. But if he was an adult and wanted to change it I would stand by his decision.
