Is anyone else doing this?

2.5 years ago I was half way through an associate degree before I realized the profession wasn't for me. Now my head is on a bit straighter and I'm finally on the right track. I'm heading back to college in less than 2 weeks. I have 4 years of school a head of me, but that's ok because once it's over my life will be much closer to what I've always wanted.

Are there any other ladies working on their AAS/AS/AA?

I already have a BA in communucations. I graduated in 04 and never used it. I tried enrolling in a tech school last year, but because of my BA couldnt get financial aid. Totally forgot about that mess and enrolled again this year. And last minute too. Then I found out about the financial aid situation, then I remembered lol. They have a loan lottery and  payment plans for the remaining balance. No guarantee I'd get the loan, plus I'm unemployed so I'd have no way to make payments. I wasted a lot of time! Right now I'm just focusing on getting a full time job. Hoping to enroll in a CNA program in October.

A woman in front of me at financial aid had the same problem. She was trying to fight it, but got no where. My heart goes out to you both.
A fear I've had for the longest time was getting into something and then not being able to get into the field. Obviously, there are no guarantees, but the major I picked is something that is in my blood. So, that gives me hope.

Are there any other options for you to go back? It sounds like you've tried several things already. Are you able to get loans?

I can definately get loans. But I'd have to apply for them and wait and see if I'm approved.  It would only pay so much then I'd be responsible for the rest by the end of the year (impossible, since I am unemployed) School begins on the 19th so it would be way too last minute anyway. Registering for classes, paying for/taking the health occupation exam (which I got a refund for since the exam was cancelled on the set date and I decided to withdraw anyway), and first payment installements are all coming due. So all that rushing just wasnt worth it. I couldnt imagine getting all of that done only to find out I didnt get the loan.

I got my AAS in criminal justice years ago. Then I joined the Army. Now that my daughter is in school I'm working toward my BA in psychology with a concentration in addiction studies. I have 3 semesters left. I was lucky that my old major was my suggested minor for my degree which has saved me tons of time.

I have my AA and Bachelor's degrees in general education and elementary education, respectively. I taught kindergarten for 6 years and after I had my son, went back and was not happy anymore. I've been working for a bank as a senior teller for 6 and a half years now and I love it.

Just had to chime in. I think it's sad that this country doesn't provide education for those who want it. You continue your education only to get a job you want to pay back all of your student loans, it ridiculous!
Yes, I like socialism. Do y'all know how much they pay teachers in other countries? They get paid like doctors and no student loans to pay back.
Anyway you'll probably disagree...lol....but that's just my two cents, not that you asked but....
