My soon to be 9 year old was bitten by a tick today. We removed it but I'm still worried about lyme disease. Anyone else have dealt with this?

Was it a deer tick? According to the internet they have to be attracted for 24-

Ugh...not done...

36-48 hours before it can transmit the disease and it will be fat and full.

When I found a tick in my hair myth dr prescribed antibiotics right away. He said it would prevent Lyme disease if it was started within a day or so of the bite. I don't know how accurate that is but I wasn't taking any chances. I would call her dr and see what they say. Good luck.

My son was bitten by a deer tick a couple of years ago. We didn't know how long it had been attached, so we took him to the doctor. She put him on antibiotics as a precaution. She told us the tick has to be attached for at least 24 hours or more to fill up and regurgitate. He hasn't had any signs or symptoms of Lyme's.
