I got my daughters report card today she is five and is in kindergarten. On the Star Early literacy assessment she scored a 507 which is Late Emergent Reader. The teacher says she is doing great but does it mean she's behind beings she is in the Late Emergent Reader category?

I have no idea what the Late Emergent Reader category is, but I would just encourage her reading and read with her.

I'm not sure what that means. I would ask the librarian or her teacher.

Different people develop different skills at different times.  I think "normal" is a broad range.   I agree with the suggestion to encourage her to read at her current level and to read to/with her.    I'd also talk to the teacher to find out more about what this test means.

My dd8 has always been ahead in math but then behind in reading, and then behind in math and ahead in reading.. Like c8ln said you develop skills at different times. I wouldn't fret!
