I want to hear your take on this. I am almost 39 years of age. 8 years ago I got very with kidney stones, collapsed left lung, septic shock. I was given 4 hours to live. I had kidney surgery during the month I stayed in the hospital. It was horrific. Anyway I have 2 kids, 15 and 11 years old. I just found out I am pregnant - 5w6d. One of my ovary was removed after my firstborn. I am not prepared to take care of another child but he/she is mine. My mother wants me to abort..tomorrow ! I have never had complications with my other 2. I don't even have any illness with this one except really tired. She is a midwife and nurse so she says in her experience she wouldn't advise me to keep it, in case of kidney failure. or death of child or myself.

That is a very hard choice. I’m sorry you have to choose.

I get kidney stones frequently, especially while pregnant. The year I was 25 I passed over 50 stones in a years span. It was horrible. I was also pregnant with my third child and needed to have contractions stopped because the pain of it all was causing pre-term labor.
I’m currently 36wks pregnant with my 4th and final child and have other health issues which we knew going into it. So I’m high risk and monitored weekly and have been since 30wks when I was hospitalized. Before that I was monitored every 2wks starting at 20wks pregnant.

I’d meet with an OB and discuss your history and get their opinions on it. I’ve found that family can be bias in these kind of situations because they care about you so much! I told my OB that she needs to do a radical tubal so as to ensure I NEVER get pregnant again because I don’t want to be forced to choose my life or my baby’s. Good luck mama.

I know your mom means well, but I would talk to a specialist doctor. Those people deal with high risk pregnancies daily and they will tell it to you straight because they won't want to take on the liability if they think it's too risky. I believe the specialist is called paranatologist. You can also just go to your OB and ask for specialist referral. Best of luck to you and congrats on new baby :)

That is not her decision to make. Consider all of the risks (from your previous health issues) and then decide whether or not you want to risk your life or your baby's life. Only YOU (and your husband) can make this decision. It's not an easy one to make. Good luck.

I would talk to your doctor and a specialist. And see what the risks are.  Is your life at risk ?  Are you at a high risk of losing the baby, having a stillborn etc

I've known people who kept going knowing the risks and then had to deal with the consequences later ; premature births, birth defects, loss of the baby.  That's why it's important for you to discuss with a health professional / specialist.  There is no easy decision for you and I sincerely wish you the best of luck
