My daughter will be starting kindergarten in the fall. We are really leaning towards homeschooling her. She is very hyper and she loves to talk. She is not a bad child by any means, but she just doesn't do well having to sit still all the time. I am just worried that this will spell disaster in a public school.
Anyway, the main thing that scares me more than anything is teaching her how to read. This is the one thing that makes me want to send her to ps for a year or two and then pull her out..lol. But, at the same time, I really do not think the ps will be the ideal situation for her. She gets distracted easily and if she is next to someone with the same traits as her, I know she will stay in trouble.
I plan on using the Abeka program for her reading and phonics. I have experience with Abeka and know that their reading and phonics is excellent.
I would really love to hear from all of you that homeschooled your child and taught them to read. This is definitely my biggest fear..
