We have been dealing with this since my daughter was 2 and at her first doctor's appointment the  optometrist said a patch would not correct anything. She is very far sighted and has amblyopia in one eye. He eye doesn't wander it just crosses in when she tries to focus. Well we finally took her to a specialist who want to giver her and eye patch...I have family members who wore them for years and nothing happened. One of them is still virtually blind in one eye. I have read that Atropine drops have a much better margin of success...Is anyone else dealing with similar difficulties? Any suggestions on what else I can do for her?

My four year old has an amblyopia and is far sighted.  He does neither the patch nor the drops and is strictly with glasses.  He has little to NO crossing when his glasses are on, but it's VERY obvious crossing when they are off.  I agree with the pp though, if you feel strongly against the patch I would get another opinion or at least ask your current doctor if the drops are something you could try.
