I have gone to my son's school more than 25 times and called about the same since classes started here in Rhode Island. My son is about to be 8 yrs old and he is in second grade he got left back in first grade once. Anyways he doesn't do very well in school his school work looks like the work of a kindergardener he hasn't improve anything since kindergarden and no one was paying any attention to his problems. I had gone to school so many times last year and nothing got done but this year i was like ok I need to do something or else my son is going to grow up to be illiterate. So i started going to school and speaking to everyone and their mother lol.. untill I got the help I needed I even got an advacate for my son...Now they are going to send my son to a special school and he is going to get all the help he needs i am so happy for him...yayyyy...I pays off to be annoying sometimes cause thats what i was being lol..Everyone in the school was annoyed with me already but I don't care it was for my sons well being..

I had to do the same thing with my daughter (I found out through drs. and the internet and just doing my homework that there were lots of things I could get when I put her on an IEP)  The school doesn't volunteer you  have to get other help.  The second I called the state advocate things started rolling.  Good luck girl who cares what they think YOU are the biggest advocate for your son.    See you come from RI so do I, I miss it I was visiting a lot until the last couple years thing have been hard around home.  I grew up in Warwick how about you?
