Do you think it's important to talk to your kids about drugs, and at what age do you plan to start?

YES!!! It is very important to talk to your kids about drugs. There are so many drugs out there these days. We told my oldest son about drugs a week before he started Kindergarten. My husbands a police officer so I really just let him do the talking and telling him why its bad and stuff.

absolutely!! our kids are 15 months 4 and 6 and we have already started talking about it!! not all the adult stuff BUT the childs version. I would rather them hear about the truth from us and not the kids in school.

My brother died from an oxycontin overdose, he never looked like

a druggie, never stole from the family, and always held a job. He just

could not get away from his lifestyle. Im very honest with my kids about

him and I talk to them about drugs a lot. They are 14 and 9.

I could have written your response. My brother also died from an oxycontin overdose. He didn't look like a druggie either, he just couldn't deal with our my dying when he was 18.

Yes it is very important.  I am not sure at what age to talk to DD.  She is not even 3 yet but we will discuss it when the time is right.

Visit the Partnership's website timetotalk.org and sign up for the Parent Talk Kit. There is a tool called "how to say it" that includes age appropriate scripts to help you get the converation going ranging from preschoolers to young adults!

Yes I think its important to talk to them about drugs.  I have basically already started.  Whenever they ask questions about smokers I just tell them.  What it is and what it does in the end.  Not a pretty picture but I don't believe in beating around the bush about some things and drugs is one.
