Okay,
so it needs to warm up here and fast! I have refrained from bringing
the horses in the house but have secretly thought about it! All of our
6 other pets have been in our house 24/7 because of the cold(at like
10:00 this morning it was still like negative 10 degrees). We have a
dog who is 1 1/2 years old, a dog who is 9 months old, a cat that is 1
1/2 years old, a cat who is 16 months old, a cat who is 7 months old
and a rabbit. I also have 2 year old and 4 year old sons.
Yesterday I look over at the Christmas tree and it is tipped over backwards. I didn't see the kids around it so I think on of the cats tried to climb it. They broke one of the feet off the base. Now it is wired to the wall so it won't fall forward and books are holding the base up.
Then, last night I went to let the dogs inside after they had been out for a bit. I stupidly forgot that I had let the rabbit out for exercise. The dogs come in, start chasing the rabbit(by the way for those who don't know rabbit scream when frightened) and chaos ensues. My husband was already asleep(he leaves for work at 4:15 in the morning) so I scream to wake him up. He grabs on dog and I grab the other and we get them in their kennels. Then I try to get the rabbit thinking that she will feel safer in her cage. I get her in the cage but have bandages on my arms now. Then the kitten has been so frightened by it she won't come out from under the tree for an hour and when I coax her out she goes and hides under the bed all night!

LOL, This sounds a bit like my household in the past years. (You're not alone, this year I too have been secretly thinking about bringing the horse in!)
I can't tell you how many bulbs have been replaced by a knocked over tree or how many times my tree has been knocked over. When I had cats, they used to climb it, and the dogs would steal the bulbs off the bottom. I finally wised up and screwed the tree to the floor! That was years ago.
