Hi everyone,
My name is Linda, I´m thirty and I have three children, 6 year old daughter, 3 year old son and a 15 month old daughter with right hemiplegia.
When I was pregnant with my third child I knew something was off. Her movements were so few and far between. I suspected that the child would be paralyzed in some way but I had a hard time getting someone to listen to my concerns. I had a c-section at 40 weeks and we were told the baby was fine but a little bit unstable so they had to take her to the NICU. I saw her crying and moving all limbs so I was relieved and thought everything would be fine. She however started having seizures the next day and was on life support for 10 days. There was bleeding in about a quarter of her brain, both on the left and right side. We were given little hope for her future and for a few months we believed the doctors but then she started surprising us and still does. She is now 15 months old and has been getting physical therapy since she was 2 weeks old and occupational therapy since she was 9 months. The next month she is starting kindergarten and will have a developmental trainer with her the whole time she´s there. I´m really looking forward to that and I think we will be seeing great improvements this summer.
