Hello my name is Lagenia and I'm new to his group. My son Lorenzo is 3yrs old going on four. He had stroke a birth which caused seziures , The hospital tells me they don't know when he had the stroke and really never answered my questions. I've always wondered if they were hiding something from me. My pregnancy was normal I never had any issues, All of a sudden when it was time or me to deliver my son that's when the complications began . When the doctor re-positioned lorenzo that's when his heart rate started to drop .. When his heart rate started to drop they should have did the emergency c-section but they decided to wait. While his heart rate was dropping the tried the vacuum and the forecps . When that failed that's when they prep me for the c section. Lorenzo now has sensory processing disorder, behavioral problems, social issues, speech delay .. Etc and a host of therapies .. I know it's hard for him but also for me to.. It's so frustrating and I can see myself getting angry at times. It's hard Sometimes I wonder how my son would be if he didn't have the stroke . I love him with all my heart .. He's my life .. I would not stop helping my son get the therapy that he needs. It's said that his own father is not around as much .
Hi Lagenia,
I am in the same situation as you. My son Alex is 2 - had the perfect pregnancy and then complications after my water broke. I had developed an infection in my uterus, ran a fever, Alex's heartrate was fluctuating above and below the correct beating, my doctor was no where to be found, I ended up pushing for 2 and 1/2 hours before a decision was made to perform a c-section. He started having seizures that night and was transfered to another hospital. I do hope you filed a suit against the hospital. Alex does have sensory issues, doesn't play much with other kids, I'm starting to notice a speech problem also. I know how frustrating it is hun. When I think about how Alex might feel - which you can tell when they get frustrated because they can't pick up a small object with an infected hand - I think of how in his mind this is normal. These children have no idea that they should be able to do this or say this. It's all new to them. I only try to make it easier for him and pray that things will balance themselves out so that he can live as much as a normal life as a child without a disability.
Thank you for responding back !!! Have you filed a lawsuit against the hospital? Did Alex have a stroke too ? The hospital should have known that they took too long to deliver my son !! Your son too .. I'm in the processing of having some things looked over now .. I continue to pray daily that my son continues to do good .. Prayer works !!! It's hard for school to accommodate children with spd ..A lot of people never heard of it... It needs more recognition then what it's getting .. People need to understand that kids have SPD and it's real ..
