So I found out some information recently.
St. Charles Hospital in New York (Long Island) offers a camp for patients with hemiplegia. It starts in July and goes on for 6 weeks. They use Contraint Induced Therapy (CIT) for about 6 hours a day & the camp is 5 days a week.
I tried to enroll my daughter this year, but unfortunately, called them too late in the year....you have to call them in Feb/March so that they can arrange/hire an aide for each child that enrolls. An Occupational Therapist overseas the classes and each child has their own aide.
I can't wait to get her enrolled for next summer. When I spoke with the coordinator, she told me that Gianna is a perfect candidate.
I just thought I would share with all of you...in case any of you are located in New York (or know someone that is), or you may want to check the hospitals in your area to see if they offer this type of service....this is only the 3rd year for St. Charles and luckily they receive funding so the cost to me is not so terrible (a little over $600 for the entire session) - I have heard this costing in the thousands in other areas....
