I can’t believe that Melody is 4 months old now. Even though it seems like such a short time, I feel like I’ve known her forever and simply couldn’t — and wouldn’t — want to imagine my life without her. Each new day gets more and more fun, because I get to see glimpses of her personality developing and shining through.

Last week I sneezed and I heard Melody crack up in the distance. I froze for a moment, as if to ask myself if I really heard what I thought I did! I had never heard her laugh before — she was just beginning to smile and interact back with me, so I certainly wasn’t expecting a slew of giggles just yet.

I walked over to her and began pretending to sneeze. She broke out into hysterical laughter! It was the most heartwarming thing I have ever experienced. So we sat there for about 20 minutes going back and forth — I sneezed, she giggled, I’d laugh, she’d laugh and on and on.

Isn’t the sound of a baby laughing just the coolest thing?

I tried the same trick again a couple of days later and it didn’t work. She looked at me as if to say, “You’ve already tried this Mommy. I’m not entertained — come up with a new act!�

Since then, I sit at home all day putting on clown faces, speaking in crazy voices and dancing around like a maniac just to hear her giggle again. And I’ll keep making a fool of myself for her ’til she does. I can’t wait!
